New devices made it easier to listen: Alexa launched in 2015, Google Home and AirPods in 2016. Non-media businesses and nonprofits that also produce podcasts. There’s less chance of incumbents competing directly here, given the more niche focus and fundamental differences in feature sets needed to enhance the user experience.
