To help me transition, they were asked to stay on for a year in an advisory/mentor capacity. It became clear that Baxter had complicated feelings about retiring, as over the course of the year they have veered wildly between acting supportive and actively hostile. I’ve tried to have empathy for what I know must be a difficult life change.
